Why Wait? A workshop on Place, Time and Future Technologies explored the topic of public waiting. The workshop took place at the Bartlett School of Architecture, London in July 2006. Betwixt Technology and Transitional Spaces was held at the University of California, Irvine in September 2006 and considered the role of technologies in transitional spaces. A Public (in)Convenience A workshop on Public Toilets was held at the Waag Society, Amsterdam, Netherlands in October 2007 and investigated the experience and affect of public toilets in an urban environment. Near Futures A New Approach to Service Design, was a 5-day workshop run as part of the CMU Portugal Maderia Summer Academy in HCI which investigated novel techniques for the study of, and design for, tourism in Funchal. Automated Journeys was held at UbiComp in Seoul, Korea in Septemer 2008 and it examined how developments in mobile technology as well as the advancements in autonomous machinery mesh with our urban journeys.
