ABOUT CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS OUTLINE THE WORKSHOP
Aims
The intention of the workshop is not to only to produce provocative designs for automated journeys. Rather, we intended for both the exploratory design scenarios and the fieldwork experience to act as future inspiration or critique for us as urban technology designers and researchers.
Further, we hope to bring together a group of people around a common interest to support further investigation, collaboration, and possibly propose a journal special issue on the topic.
Plan of Activities
The workshop will take place over one action-packed day. Attendees will first gather in the morning for an informal introduction session.
Participants will then divide into groups and head out with a local guide into the city to explore, experience and observe automated journeys in the wild. Groups will be asked to create, gather, collate, record or otherwise make tangible, the various aspects of automated journeys which they encounter.
Coming back together in the afternoon the groups will discuss their findings from their adventures and then engage in a session of design brainstorming followed by a discussion of the overall themes which emerged.
Outcome
Design envisagements will form the tangible outcome of the workshop and will be integrated into an archival website outlining the
main threads of discussion during the day.
